When I started in practice in 1989, most patients knew little about facial injections and even plastic surgeons had minimal use of products to add volume or augment the facial features. Original injectable materials were in the form of collagen injections. Most of these injections required skin testing and 2-4 weeks to see the effect prior to injecting larger volumes.

New products have evolved and currently, we perform a multitude of different fillers to accommodate the needs of the patient. At the Aesthetic Associates Centre, we utilize only FDA approved injectables.

The cost will vary depending on what areas are treated and how much product is used.

Dermal Filler Facial Injections

Dr. Shatkin and his staff teach courses to health professionals through the Aesthetic Learning Academy on the proper use and safety of these products. Botox can be used in conjunction with other injectables like fillers to rejuvenate the face and hands, and are performed by Dr. Shatkin and his Plastic Surgery Team.

Juvederm tm

Juvederm tm is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Dr. Shatkin eases Juvederm tm injectable gel under the skin to provide a smooth, natural look and feel so everyone will notice (but no one will know)! In fact, studies show superior results of Juvederm tm compared to a collagen-based dermal filler.^* And, almost 90% of all study volunteers who were treated with both Juvederm tm injectable gel and another dermal filler^* preferred Juvederm tm In addition, Juvederm tm injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons of color.

What is Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™?

Juvederm™ Voluma™ is the newest of the Juvederm range of hyaluronic acid fillers. It is specifically designed to restore volume in areas of volume loss. It is FDA approved for cheek volumizing and has other uses on the face as well.

How does Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™ work to achieve its results?

Dr. Samuel Shatkin Jr. was one of the first in Western New York Buffalo area performing the Juvederm Voluma injections. Dr. Shatkin believes that an attractive youthful face is characterised by smooth, round contours, high cheekbones and a thin, well-defined jaw line. Dr. Shatkin uses a process of prehydrating the Juvederm Voiuma to enhance it's hydrophilic effect to provide a more instant complete cheek enhancement.

Fat Injections

Fat injection is an excellent treatments to fill in deep lines and furrows on the face.

Just like Juvederm, it can easily fill the lines around the mouth, above the nose and increase volume to the face that has deflated over time. Typically, Dr. Shatkin uses fat injection when many areas need to be treated. This becomes more cost effective than Juvederm or other fillers. Dr. Shatkin has developed a unique treatment protocol which he has used for many years with great success. The fat has to be retrieved from some area of excess, usually it is obtained from the abdomen or hip. This is a minor surgical procedure to perform and can be done in less than one hour. After the fat is retrieved it is processed to concentrate the fat cells and then the fat is reinjected in the area to be corrected. A series of 4-5 injections are spaced out over a 6 month periond to maximize the results.

Restylane® can be used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct
moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose
to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Restylane may also be used
for lip enhancement in patients over 21 years.
